<div itemprop="description">It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Alcide Thomas Doucet, age 64, of Lower Sackville, on April 1, 2016, at the VG Hospital, due to complications of leukemia. <br />Alcide was the loving husband of Gloria (Gillis), cherished father to daughter Melanie Camplin (Scott), Leduc AB; sons Trevor (Angela), Cold Lake AB and Ryan (Chantel), Leduc AB. He was a loving Papa to grandchildren Rhys and Macy Camplin and stepgrandchildren Gage and Avery Camplin and Montana Delorme. <br />Formerly from Margaree Forks, Cape Breton, Alcide was the oldest son of Arsene and Regina (Chiasson) Doucet. He is survived by sisters Marie Copley (Eddy), Inverness and Jacqueline Prieur (Adrian), Angus ON; brothers Marcel, West Lake Ainslie, Brian (Therese), Margaree Forks, Arnold (Bernice), Halifax and David (Kelly), Margaree Forks; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. <br />Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister-in-law Charlotte Blackman-Doucet. <br />Al was a carpenter by trade and a member of Local 83 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. He began his career working for Standard Construction and worked for various companies through the years. He became a Journeyman Scaffolder, working with Steeplejack Services and later Aluma Systems at the Imperial Oil Refinery, until his retirement in 2011. <br />Alcide was a lover of all sports especially the game of hockey. Growing up he enjoyed many hours on the outdoor rink at Margaree Forks. He was a faithful Montreal Canadiens fan and his Habs hero was Jean Beliveau. He had an amazing memory for sports facts and history. Being a trivia buff, one of his favorite pastimes was doing crossword puzzles. <br />He had a passion for Classic Country music especially the tunes of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. After his retirement, he and Gloria enjoyed bus touring the USA, highlights of which were a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville; Branson, Missouri and the Muhammed Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. <br />Visitation will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. John Vianney Church, Lower Sackville, Father Mark Syrenne officiating. Reception to follow at the chuch hall. Interment will follow the reception at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Middle Sackville. <br />In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. <br /> &quot;Goodbye, Farewell and Amen&rdquo; &ndash; M*A*S*H 1983 <br /></div>
