<div itemprop="description">Barnett, Alfred James (Jim) Born December 28, 1933. Age 80, Jim passed away peacefully at Parkstone Enhanced Care &ndash; Dementia Unit where he has been a resident since December. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Nora (Marsh) and A. James Barnett. Surviving is his wife of 60 years Jean (Slaunwhite) of Halifax. Will be sadly missed by his children Barbara (Steven Benedict), Anthony (Tony), Brenda (Stanley Porier), Thomas &ldquo;Dick&rdquo; (Jennifer) and Christopher (Shantel), and his grandchildren Shawna, Jimmy, Christopher, Leigh, Kyle, Jillian, Alyson, Jessica, Mya, Brandon and Codey, and his five great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Margaret (Relf) Schouteten, Mount Uniacke, also missed by his former daughter in law Carolyn Barnett and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his brother Louis Relf, and his sisters Nellie and Theresa Relf.Jim worked for over 40 years for Brown &amp; Ryan on the Halifax waterfront until he retired. In his younger years he enjoyed many sports. He played hockey and basketball (St. Pat&rsquo;s) and baseball for the Longshoreman. He was a longtime member of the Halifax Fireman&rsquo;s Club (North Park Street). He was also a Deacon at St. Patrick&rsquo;s Church in his late 60&rsquo;s and 70&rsquo;s. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Jim&rsquo;s life will be held on Friday March 14th, 2014 at 1 pm. At the Atlantic Funeral Home 125 Sackville Drive, Sackville.
