Bernard "Jerome" MacLean
August 18, 1951 - June 10, 2015
MacLean, Bernard Jerome - 63 of Lower Sackville, passed away June 10, 2015 at home. Born in Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late Jessie Anne (MacNeil) and the late Stephen MacLean. Happiest when he was spending time with his girls, family, friends and neighbours, Jerome was a great chauffeur on any given Saturday, a handy addition to any project, and the first to lend a helping hand. Jerome was truly the happiest when helping others or watching his friends succeed. A kind and passionate man, Jerome was always quick with a story or a smile, and always made sure you had a drink in your hand and something to eat, whether you were hungry or not. In his younger years he enjoyed playing a good game of basketball. He was employed with the Ironworker’s Union, Local 752. He was excited to be back home with his family, working on the “Big Lift” project for the MacDonald Bridge, though he left friends wherever he went from Mabou to Fort Mac, from the Confederation Bridge to Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife Eileen MacDougall; daughters Allyson, Jaclyn, Jessie all at home in Lower Sackville; sisters Darlene MacLean, Troy, Cape Breton; Diane Maclean, Lower Sackville; half-brothers Jackie MacLean and Dougie MacLean; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by step-father Woody MacLean. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive. Memorial mass will be held in St. John Vianney RC Church on Wednesday June 17 at 11 am. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial in Cape Breton at a later date. Jerome Loved animals, and in his honor donations may be made to the SPCA or Homeward Bound City Pound, or a charity of one’s choice.
