Darlene Harker Crowell
August 28, 2015
Harker-Crowell, Darlene
On her own terms and not until she was good and ready, Darlene Harker-Crowell left this world on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 8:20pm, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a hard battle with cancer for almost a year, but in the end, her amazing and optimistic attitude just wasn't enough to win the battle against the terrible disease. She was a beautiful, loving mother to her children Lindsay and Ryan, daughter to her parents Keith & Simone, sister to Kim (Brian Lewis) and Danny (Diana Ritchie), aunt to Jocelyn, Brent, Justice and Jessica, and girlfriend of three years to Bob Ludlow.
She was employed by the Nova Scotia Government Registry of Deeds for many years and most recently, at the Department of Transportation in Bridgewater. Darlene had a deep love for all animals, but especially for her dogs. She leaves behind her Border Collie Miss. Emma, who will miss her dearly.
Darlene had a zest for life and was always up for a new and exciting adventure from skydiving, running marathons, driving across Canada with her kids and two dogs in the heat of the summer without air conditioning, to buying and riding a new motorbike at the age of 51. From a very young age, she had an extremely talented & creative side and could take any person’s yard sale junk and turn it into something anyone would proudly display in their home. This creativity also extended to the outdoors, gardening in her yard at her home on the LaHave River in Conquerall Bank, Lunenburg County. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the V.G. Site 5A for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be at Atlantic Funeral Home located at 125 Sackville Drive on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at Saint Ignatius Church located at 5 Bedford Street in Bedford at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Fifteen minutes prior to the service, her sister Kim will share a personal eulogy.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Darlene’s love of animals, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Humane Society or in support of cancer research to the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be sent to www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
