Dawn Linda Marshall
October 29, 1951 - March 23, 2014
MARSHALL, Dawn Linda (Gerrior) – It is with great sadness that we announce Dawn’s passing on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, the eldest daughter of the late Bertha and Marshall Gerrior, Dawn was an excellent student and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University and a Masters of Education degree from Saint Mary’s University. She and her husband Jack settled in Mount Uniacke where they enjoyed a close-knit community atmosphere. She was a beloved high school teacher for 33 years in the Dartmouth area, touching the lives of many students along the way. She was a social butterfly, making friends virtually anywhere she went. She loved to travel, with both her husband and family, making many special memories throughout the years. Dawn loved horses, dogs, reading, shopping and truly embraced the joie de vivre. She was a very proud mother of three successful children and loved to celebrate all of their accomplishments. She especially enjoyed her time with her “crown jewels” and her many neighbourhood friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Jack, sons James (Jenna), Luke (Stephanie), daughter Lauren (Jaret) and sisters Darlene (Mike), Debbie (Randy) and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. A service will be held on Friday March 28 at 10 am at St. Mark’s Anglican Church (Russell St, Halifax), followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, we are accepting donations to Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Special thanks to the VON, the stroke and thoracic units as well as the palliative care team at the QEII.
