<div itemprop="description">Whitehead, Don Albert- 80 It is with great sadness and many special memories that the family of Don Albert Whitehead of Lower Sackville announces his sudden passing on April 3, 2013 at the QE11 Hospital. Born in Powell River BC, he was the son of the late Cecil and Gladys Whitehead . As a young man, his work and travel took him to every province in Canada, as well as many American States. As a ships engineer he finally settled in Nova Scotia. Over the years he was employed with various companies including, both Halifax and Dartmouth Shipyards, Fairey Aviation and finally Guildfords Burnside, where he worked for 18 years, retiring in 1997. As an avid camper he and his wife Sylvia travelled throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Eastern United States. In later years he parked their trailer at Camelot Campground Kentville. In 2000 Don and his wife started a small business, SYLDON, providing used medical equipment. They had customers throughout metro as well as the rest of N.S, N.B, and NFLD. They donated wheelchairs to Lower Sackville Legion, Calais Branch. In early 2004 they made donations of wheelchairs and badly needed medical supplies to the NS District Rotary that had also received donations from hospitals across the province. Two containers were filled and shipped to Camaroon Africa. For 25 years he was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch 162 and a member of the AMA and was a range officer. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia, daughters Kelly Shannon (Wayne Robicheau) Chezzetcook, Germaine Williamson (daughter Shanna), Victoria BC.
