<div itemprop="description">Oliver, Douglas Leroy &ldquo;Uncle Dougie&rdquo; &ndash; 94 of Hammonds Plains. Passed away Monday August 4, 2014 in the QE II Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site. Born in Lucasville, he was a son of the late Vincent and Evangeline (Parsons) Oliver. Douglas was a quiet gentle person. He was the eldest member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and also was a member of the Men&rsquo;s Brotherhood and Upper Hammonds Plains Senior&rsquo;s Group. Douglas served during the mid 40&rsquo;s in the military and was the last surviving resident of Lucasville who served during WW II. Douglas was a longtime employee of Moirs Limited from which he retired. Douglas like to garden and maintain his property. Douglas is survived by his brother Harold (Vivian), Hammonds Plains and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was predeceased by his wife Muriel &ldquo;Bernice&rdquo;; brothers, Clarence, Ronald; sisters, Pearl Kelsie, Edith Oliver and Judith Lucas. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Thursday, August 7, with a Brotherhood Service at 7pm; Funeral service to be held 1pm Friday, August 8 all in Emmanuel Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Lennett Anderson, offciating assisted by Rev. Carl Price. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Thank you to the nursing staff of 8.4, with a special thanks to Ryan and Deb.
