YOUNG, Florence G. Surrounded by Family and held tight, it is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, Florence Young (Davis) on February 12, 2017. Born in Halifax on February 24, 1927, to the late Ethel and George Davis, she was the oldest of four children: Edna Parker, Greta Gray and Baby Billy. On December 19, 1944 Mom and Dad (Marshall William Young) married and they started their journey in life together. They raised 6 children and their love and strength guided us along our paths. Mom devoted her entire life and being to her family. Her love and devotion were immeasurable. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was game for anything that involved family. She shared many stories and laughs with her best friend Aunt Eva. Family was Mom’s passion! She maintained a sweet and simple demeanor. Her constant nurturing love, her smile, her joking ways and quick wit, won the hearts of many. She was a perfectionist in the garden, with her knitting and almost all that she chose to tackle.
She is survived by her daughters: Ruth Young, Gloria Archibald, Linda Flynn(Wade), Heather Lively, Kathy Wambolt (Doug) & daughter in law Sherry Young, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her Husband Marshall; Son, Allen Marshall Young; Grandson, Darren Wood; Son in law, Alvin Lively and baby brother Billy.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 17th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive. Service will be held Saturday at 11 am in St. John’s Anglican Church with reception to follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to St. Johns Anglican Church.
The Family wishes to thank all who cared for her while she was a resident at Oakwood Terrace with a special thank you to Nadine and Jacqueline. Online condolences may be made by visiting the website www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com and selecting the Sackville Chapel
Mom’s passion instilled in us the importance of family and we will go on as one in her memory.
