Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late George Henry Cooke Sr. and Mary Helen (Dort) Cooke. George was a resident in Mount Uniacke for over 30 years and was employed with the Halifax School Board as a painter for 30 years. George loved to camp, loved to socialize and loved and lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Jean (McNeil) Cooke; daughter, Janice Marie (Cooke) LaChance, Red Deer, Alberta; sons, Robert John Cooke, Falmouth; William James Cooke, Mount Uniacke; sons-in-law, Kevin LaChance and Randy Fralic; daughters-in law, Shelley Cooke (Fletcher), Andrea Cooke (Palmer); sisters, Margaret Morash-Clarke (Mrs. Dennis Clarke), Cape St. Mary&rsquo;s; Shirley Stevens (Mrs. John Stevens), Chester-Basin; Brenda Comeau (Mrs. Ralph Comeau), Cape St. Mary&rsquo;s; brother, Davie (Andy) Cooke(Rowena &ldquo;Tootsie&rdquo; Cooke), Greenwood; grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Cooke and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by granddaughter, Laura-Jean Fralic. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, November 22 with a memorial service to follow all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville.
