Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the age of 71. Beloved wife of David. Loving mother of Diane (Blair Evans), David, and Paul (Harriet Davies). Devoted grandmother of Emily Rose. Dear sister of Marjorie (John Phelps), Clara (Chris Harnett-deceased), Keith Pike (Marilyn), Garry (Jacqueline) and the late Yvonne (Cyril Quirke). Predeceased by her nephew Gerard Quirke, brothers-in-law Clarence “Bud” (Elizabeth “Lib”) and Douglas (Elaine), and sister-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” (Winston Cumby-deceased). Gwendolyn will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gwendolyn was born in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph and Maisie Pike. She loved reading, gardening, genealogical research and doing puzzles. A special thank you to the staff at the Halifax Infirmary, Cobequid Community Health Centre, Northwood Homecare and the Inspired COPD Outreach Program for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 934 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville on Friday, November 14 at 1 p.m. Interment at Oakridge Memory Gardens.
