Joan F. Moxon

MOXON, Joan Frances. It is with heavy hearts that we announce Joan’s passing on October 12, 2013. Joan was born in Halifax on June 20, 1933 to the late Faye Elmo and Kathleen Frances Miller. In 1948 Joan moved with her family from Fairview to Waverley. As a young woman she married Darrell MacPherson, who died in a tragic accident when their two sons, Frank and John, were very young. She later married Roy Moxon and together they have a son, Marshall “Marty”. Joan and Roy spent 53 happy years together. Joan was a wonderful cook and loved to garden, knit, sew and did embroidery. She made beautiful quilts and made a special quilt for each one of her nieces. For many years enjoyed her weekends at “the farm” with Bud and Rena. She loved the birthday lunches with her Mom and sisters. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Northwood Home Care girls who provided excellent care to her. Joan was a faithful member of Wellington United Church and a long-time member of the Wellington Women’s Group. Joan is survived by her husband Roy and son Marty (Laurie); grandchildren Mitchell and Cody (the joys of her life); daughter-in-law Anna McLaughlin; grandsons, Michael and Devin; great grandson, Kaneal; brothers Bud (Rena), Waverley, Aubrey (Betty), Fall River, Brian (Beverley), Waverley; sisters Betty Anne McDonald (Paul), Waverley, Beverley Bowser (the late Glen), Fall River, Wanda Dickie (Ronald), Meaghers Grant and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband , Darrell MacPherson, sons Frank and John, brother Kenneth, sister Barbara Jean in infancy, brother- in-law Glen Bowser; sister-in-law Paulette Miller. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, where visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday , October 17, 2013. The funeral will be held Friday 2 pm at Wellington United Church. A reception will follow in the church. Family flowers only.
