<div itemprop="description">Bottomley, John Lloyd, 66, of Fall River, NS, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday October 24th, 2013. Born in Halifax to Tom and Jean (Moore) Bottomley, John was a former football player for QEH (Headmaster champions). John was also active in the early establishment of lacrosse in Nova Scotia, managing the Nova Scotia Lacrosse Team, who participated in the 1969 Canada Summer Games, and was for a time president of the Centennial Lacrosse Association. A former Eagle Scout, John spent lots of time outdoors, on walks around the block with friends or on canoe trips into the wilderness. John had a career in insurance and information technology, was a former member of the LWF fire Department, and served his community as a member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission. Later life found him settling back to the home he built with his father, and enjoying the companionship of his friends in the Village. John is survived by father, Tom; brothers, Gary (Mona) , Rick (Agnes); sister Linda Coolen (Greg Rice); son Paul (Mary),daughter Jane (Andrew); granddaughters Mikayla, Taylor and Madelyne. He is remembered by many friends, in particular Dianne, Jane, Scott and Helen, Brenda and John, Alex and Maie, and buddy Mason. John was predeceased by mother Jean , and close friends Julie and Rob. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-9 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Wednesday 2 pm in St. John&rsquo;s United Church, Fall River. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LWF fire department or the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. Thank you to the firefighters of Station 45, emergency care at Cobequid Health, Doctor John McNabb, and Rosalind Benoit.
