<div itemprop="description">HEFLER, Lorne Winfred- Age 93, Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on November 22, 2013, at the QE II, HSC. Born in Halifax on August 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Harry and Annie (Drysdale) Hefler (Middle Sackville). He was a member of the Sackville United Baptist Church. At a young age he was employed with the CNR at the Fairview Round House. Lorne was no stranger to hard work. In the 50's and 60's he stared his own trucking and logging business. In 1968, Lorne and his brother Royce founded Mobile Concrete Ltd, which they operated until sold in the early 1980's, Lorne thinking he would retire. Not enjoying his idle time, the two brothers then founded Sackville concrete Ltd in 1989. Lorne finally retired in 1999 at the age of 79. Over the years Lorne had many passions, starting with racing cars at Walkers Race Track in Sackville. After years of logging with horses, his passion soon changed to showing his beautiful Belgians. For over 40 years he showed his Belgian horses throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. In 1984, Lorne and his family and friends showed his horses at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. During all hi years he the support of his loving wife, Elsie. Lorne is survived by his wife of 70 years Elsie (Wright), son, Brenton (heather); Daughters Yvonne (Steve) Callahan, Sylvia (Randy) Fowler, all of Sackville; Donna (Darrell) McNeil, Digby; Beverley (Dwight) Sarty, Hammonds Plains; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sisters Doreen (Ken) Beazley, Nine Mile River; Carole (John) Feetham, Enfield, brothers Royce (Edith) Sackville; Murray (Jeanette), Hantsport, sister-in-law, Marge Hefler, Sackville; brother-in-law, Owen Moore, Waverley and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Cecil and Graham, sisters, Marguerite Kane, Vivian Fredricks, Audrey June Moore and Iris Hubley; daughter-in-law, Bona Hefler. Special thanks to the staff at the Capital Health Authority for the wonderful care given to our husband and father. Visitation will be held in the Atlantic Funeral Home 125 Sackville Drive on Tuesday, November 26th from 2-4 and 6:30- 8:30pm. Funeral is at Sackville United Baptist Church, 1240 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville, on Wednesday November 27th at 2 pm. Pastor Christopher Drew officiating, and Pastor Wade Harvey assisting. A private family committal service will be held. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
