Forgeron, Marie “Irene”. It is with great sadness we inform you that a devoted wife, loving mother, and devout Christian passed away peacefully on January 25, 2014. Mom was surrounded by her family who said their loving goodbyes. Irene was born in Little Anse, Cape Breton on June 1st, 1924. She was the fifth child of the late William and Evangeline (Samson) Landry.
Irene is survived by her devoted children , Shirley(Vern) Trottier, and Robert “Bob” (Kaye) Forgeron, also mom’s ever-faithful daughter’s in-law Carol Ann Forgeron and Sharon Forgeron
A very special nanny to Stephanie, Shannon, Michelle, Renee, Andrea, Jeffrey, Jayme, and Roxanna. Loving meme to great-grandchildren Haley, Anthony, Shane, Foster, Megan, Logan, Noah, Malcom, Turner, Haley, Donovan, Alex, Michelle, Steele and Myah.
Besides her parents Irene was predeceased by her loving and faithful husband of 67 years Anthony “Tony” Raymond, sons Joseph Anthony(“Sonny”) and Donald Anthony, brothers Lawrence, Wilfred, Frank, and sister Eva Mae.
Her husband and children were her life. With her husband and young family in tow off we went camping or on one of mom’s many picnics. So many times mom did without for her family. We know God has rewarded her already. Irene loved music, dancing and entertaining. She was known for her culinary skills whether in West Arichat or Halifax. Irene was an avid “BlueJay’s” fan and rarely missed a game, often calling her son in-law Vern when a home run was hit so they could celebrate together. Moms love of baseball started from watching Robert “Play Ball” and loved to praise his skill at the game any chance she could. Mom always prayed for her family with her well-used rosary, which was never out of her reach.
Words cannot express the esteem we her family held for our mother.
Her last place of residence was Northwood Manor.
A Funeral Wake will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Atlantic Funeral Homes Sackville Chapel at 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, N.S.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ignatius Parish on Friday January 31st at 10 a.m. A Reception will follow in the church hall. Family Flowers only. Donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society in Irene’s memory. She will be laid to rest in the Oakridge Memory Gardens.
