<div itemprop="description">Hobin (Dencer), Phyllis Laura – 88, of Halifax, passed away Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Maplestone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Beatrice (Massey) Dencer. She worked many years for Sears in Halifax until her retirement. She enjoyed travelling and doing puzzles. She spent many years camping and was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association. She dedicated many years of service to the Royal Canadian Legion. She was the founding Ladies’ Auxiliary President of the MacDonald Memorial Legion Br. 156 in Lakeside from 1963-1969. After moving to Lower Sackville she was the founding Ladies’ Auxiliary President of Calais Legion Br. 162 serving 3 terms. She also held many other executive positions and was awarded her Life Membership in recognition of her service. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Laura Hobin, Greenwood; sons, Barry, Dartmouth, John, Pembroke, ON, Glenn (Brenda), Windsor Junction; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, John “Jack” Hobin; sister, Dorothy “Dolly” Young; brother, Clifford Dencer. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Sunday February 19th with a Legion Service being held at 7:30 pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville where a funeral service will be held at 10 am Monday February 20th. A reception will follow. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Oakridge Memorial Gardens. Rev. James Haughn officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Maplestone Enhanced Care who looked after our mother during her stay. We would also like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to her guardian angels, Mark and Gina for their love and devotion to our mother over the past years. It was appreciated more than you know. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.</div>
