Robert Lawrence Black
September 21, 1921 - October 15, 2016
Black, Robert Lawrence – age 95 of Bedford passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at QE II, Camphill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital. Born in Nappan, Cumberland County, Robert was a son of the late Douglas and Josephine Black (Purdy). Robert served overseas during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the war Robert was employed with the Department of National Defense, HMC Dockyard in Halifax retiring in 1981. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church and a Legion Member. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, lawn bowling, playing bridge, stamp and coin collecting. Robert is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 67 years, Beryl (Jones), sons, Wayne (Lorraine), Lower Sackville, Barry (Mary), Waverley; daughters, Sharon Adams (Kelly), Bedford, Rhonda Hartlen (Carl), Middle Sackville; grandchildren, Robbie, Lindsay, Christopher, Shane, Jeffrey, Michael, Aaron, Lisa, Andrew; great grandchildren, Jayden and Gianna; sisters, Margaret Higgs, Elsie Forshner, Elizabeth Stewart, Esther Jones (Keith) and brother, Paul (Audrey). He was predeceased by sisters, Inez Chapman, Ida Ward; brothers, Charles and Donald. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
