
PARNELL, RONALD ARTHUR – 56, UPPER SACKVILLE, NS, passed away suddenly on August 3, 2012. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Rennie) and Ronald Parnell. He will be deeply missed by his wife Darlene (Keigan) of 34 years; son, Ronnie; daughter, Amanda (Melissa). He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah (Rod) Fitzpatrick, Maureen (John) Lawler; and brothers, Timothy (Peggy), Daniel (Sheila), Frederick (Carolyn), James (Darlene); also Mary Parnell (his father’s wife); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Ronald became a mechanic under the mentorship of Orville Burrill at Tanner Chrysler Plymouth in 1972-1976, then Twin City Dodge from 1976-1980, moving onto Dartmouth Dodge where he was employed from 1980-2012 as a Shop Foreman. He had a great passion for cars with mainly Chrysler/ Dodge models being his favourites. He took great pride in his work and his mechanical skills were “unlimited” no matter the job small or large. He was known as “One of the Dodge Guys”. He loved country music, dancing, entertaining his family / friends from behind his bar, camping, cooking on his “Coleman” stove outdoors, playing a good game of washer toss and especially his tools. Cremation has taken place. Visitation is at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, on Tuesday, August 7th from 6-9 p.m. Memorial service to be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 3 p.m. Rev. Gloria Penwell officiating; Reception to follow. Donations may be made in memory to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
