<div itemprop="description">GORDON, Taylor Lewis <br>Of Lower Sackville, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the age of 84. Taylor was the beloved husband of the late Marina Gordon for over 50 years. He was a son of the late Leonard and Amelia Gordon, and grew up in Melfort, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy to pursue his passion of sports. Taylor excelled as an amateur boxer and coach, he retired after 25 years of service in the Navy and settled in Nova Scotia. Taylor is survived by his loving sons Dwain (Judy) and Wayne (Stephanie Walker), and son-in-law Glenn Black; devoted grandchildren Marina (Chris Munroe), Heather (Josh Lucas), Joshua Black, Ann, Rachael (Scott O’Regan), and Taylor Gordon (Victoria Smith); cherished great-grandchildren Marina, Matteo, Malachi, Landon, Morgan and Madeline; and his dear sister May Mann. Predeceased by his daughter Ann Black. Taylor will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and his extended family. His boxing family will forever remember Taylor, and his imprint on boxing will be felt for generations to come. He laid the foundation for boxing in Canada and paved the way for many athletes to reach the pinnacle of amateur sport. A visitation for Taylor will take place on Sunday, June 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr, Lr Sackville. A Celebration of Taylor’s life will be held in the Grace Chapel, 255 Ross Street, Halifax on Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. For those wishing, donations to the Citadel Boxing Building Fund would be appreciated.
