<div itemprop="description">Mitchell, Violet &quot;Vi&quot; Alice (n&eacute;e Ivey) <br /> <br />Of Fall River, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016, in the loving company of her family. She was 82 years old. Vi was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, William Ernest Mitchell. She was the loving mother of Sherilynn &ldquo;Sheri&rdquo; Solnicka (Karel), Gerald (Angela), Kelly (Alan Miller), Sandra &ldquo;Sam&rdquo; (John Bona), and William &ldquo;Bill&rdquo; (Mary Mifflen). She leaves behind treasured grandchildren Shawn, Shannon, and Karel Solnicka; Cheryl Law, Jerry Mitchell, and Luke and Nicole Mifflen-Mitchell, cherished great-grandchildren Christina, Shayna, Brandon, Adrienne, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Ava, Will and Tessa, and dear great-great grandson Ryland. She will be missed by her brother, Robert Ivey. Vi was sadly predeceased by her precious daughter, Cindy Lee Mitchell, as well as her parents Ella May (n&eacute;e Beach) and Bert Ivey, brothers Patrick, Sonny, and Gerald, and sister Joyce Aker. She will be deeply missed by her loving extended family. <br /> <br />In her youth, Vi grew up amongst a loving family in Halifax. She often reminisced about her happy times singing with her family and friends as a young girl. She married William &ldquo;Mitch&rdquo; Mitchell and they spent many contented years raising their family and working as proud owners of the Scenic Motel and Restaurant. After selling the Scenic Motel, she became renowned for her phenomenal cooking and management of many kitchens, including CPA High School, Rocky Lake Restaurant, Inn on the Lake, and Brightwood Golf Course. For fifteen years, Vi lovingly and selflessly cared for her ailing husband prior to his passing. She will also be fondly remembered for her incredible singing voice; her love of singing and conversation made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. <br /> <br />A special thank-you is extended to the staff of the QEII Halifax Infirmary for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22 in St. John&rsquo;s United Church, Fall River at 10 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
