<div itemprop="description">SAWYER, William B &ldquo;Barry&rdquo;, 67, of Halifax passed away June 25, 2014 at the QE II Infirmary Site. Born in Montreal, he was the son of May (Barclay) Sawyer and the late William H. Sawyer. Barry held an undergraduate degree from McGill University, Montreal and a Master&rsquo;s Degree in Philosophy from King&rsquo;s College, Halifax. The majority of Barry's career was spent with the Canadian Coastguard. He was an avid supporter of the arts and played clarinet in the Tupper Medical Band and the Sackville Community Band. He was an expert on many subjects with particular interest in Natural Sciences. <br />Barry loved to read, travel, and share his wealth of knowledge with anyone willing to listen. His annual trips to Milford House Wilderness Resort, South Milford NS. were particularly special. <br />Barry is survived by his Mother, May Sawyer of Halifax; sister, Wendy (Sawyer) Moore, of Calgary; nephews Matthew (Tracie) Moore, Mitchell (Terri) Moore; great nieces Madison and Alexis Moore, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his beloved Ellis family of Sackville, NS. Barry was predeceased by his loving wife Jean (Ellis) Sawyer. Cremation has taken place. <br />Internment service will take place on June 30 at 2 pm in the Sackville United Baptist Church Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. Davena Davis officiating. Visitation with Barry's family will begin at 1:00pm, at The Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Lower Sackville, NS.
