<div itemprop="description">WAYNE ROMANS, 72 <br />Wayne Eugene Romans, 72, of Hammonds Plains, Halifax, passed away Tuesday, April 30th, 2013 at the Palliative care unit VG Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia. <br />A service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, May 4th at First Baptist Church Hammonds Plains ,Reverend Shant Manuel will be officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the church. Burial to follow at Hammonds Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Hammonds Plains. Family flowers only, Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Baptist Church, Hammonds Plains. <br />Wayne was the son of the late, Charles and Olive (Thomson) Romans. He graduated from Hammonds Plains School and then went to Guilfords where he learned his trade. On February 20th, 1960 he married the former Laura MacKay of Sackville. Wayne was employed as an Insulator and worked many places across Canada. He belonged to the Heat Frost &amp; Insulators union local 116 in Halifax and local 110 in Alberta He enjoyed his work and only retired two days prior to admission to hospital where he remained until his passing. He loved to hunt, fish, play darts, four wheeling and camping. Wayne was heavily involved with community events such as, boy scouts, youth hockey, fund raising and was a volunteer firefighter. His past hobbies also included building and racing his stock car the Peanut. He also enjoyed watching hockey, boxing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. <br />Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Laura (MacKay) Romans, two sons, Allan of Dartmouth, NS, Terrence (Karen) of Fort McMurray Alberta, Daughter Felicia Romans , (Sam Foster)of Beaver Bank. Wayne was blessed with one granddaughter, Holly , 5 grandsons, Adam, Tyler, Drew, Michael and Matthew and numerous nieces , nephews and cousins. Wayne is also survived by his sister Mrs. Carolyn (Ron) Eisan of Dartmouth, NS. Predeceased by twin sons Kevin and Keith in infancy.
