<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Wendell VanIderstine on March 23rd, 2015 in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax surrounded by family and friends. Born on October 2, 1948 in Truro he was the son of Lillian (Hollingsworth) and the late Robert VanIderstine. Wendell is survived by his loving wife Valerie (Cook) VanIderstine, children Jeanette Cole, Kitchener, ON; Michael Dooley (Stephanie), Fredericton,NB; Michael VanIderstine (Tammy), Lower Sackville, brothers David (Cathy) VanIderstine, Guelph, ON; Gail VanIderstine, Boston, Mass; Pat (Doug) Fisher, Bridgewater; Joan (Paul) Campbell, Brookfield; Cathy Tremblay (Tony Clarke), Dartmouth; grandchildren Cody, Kyle, Shawn, Daniel, Jocelyn, Kelsey and Kelly, great grandchildren Brittney and Brooklyn and special buddy Nicholas Westlake, Fort MacMurray, Alberta and longtime pals Shylo and Molly. He was predeceased by his stepfather Alvin Sullivan and sister Donna Campbell. Wendell worked in landscaping, Mr. Fresh Farm Market in Falmouth, NS, and had a large Christmas tree lot in Sackville, Nova Scotia all of which gave him the benefit of working outdoors which he loved, and to be out among people and let his personality shine. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wendell was well known and respected throughout the community for his generous and giving nature, his lively wit and infectious personality. He was always willing to help out his friends and neighbours and went out of his way to assist those in need. He took great care in taking people under his wing and great pride in passing on his knowledge in that unique way that only Wendell could and always with a smile that made everyone around him smile as well. Wendell touched the lives of so many people, on so many levels and in so many ways. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Wendell&rsquo;s life will be held from 12:30 p.m. &ndash; 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Sackville Heights Community Centre, 45 Connolly Rd, Lower Sackville, All are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.</div>
