RAINS, William Morton CD
With sadness we announce the passing of Bill on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the QEII Infirmary in Halifax. Bill was the son of the late Capt. William and Vera Rains of Halifax. Born and raised in Halifax, Bill joined the R.C.A.F. in 1950 and had a 29 year career, serving at bases in Canada, France and the United States. Bill and Loraine were married in 1952 and have three children who travelled with Bill throughout his career. After retiring from the service in 1979 Bill accepted a position with Corrections Canada in Ottawa and was there for two years before returning to Nova Scotia and a position with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Dartmouth. Bill permanently retired in 1989 and having settled in Lower Sackville began to fully enjoy his favourite past times of fishing, hunting and gardening. Bill spent hours in his vegetable garden and also grew flowers for Loraine. Bill played guitar, banjo and clarinet and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
