JESSUP, Diana Marie Elise
It is with wonderful memories of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our Mother, Diana Jessup. Born and raised in Iroquois Falls Ontario, Mom passed away in Halifax NS on 29 July 2016 at the age of 89.
Mom loved her family, golf and the cottage at Nellie Lake; she was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her hole-in-one on number seven many years ago. Like her parents, Mom was an avid bridge player and enjoyed getting back in the game when she returned to Iroquois Falls after living in British Columbia. Mom loved Christmas lights, going to the Dairy Queen, bonfires, Tom Hanks movies, ABBA, walking, tinkering on the piano, knitting, sewing and in later years, needlepoint. Mom’s forte wasn’t in the kitchen but she did make fabulous lemon meringue pies.
Mom was predeceased by our father Vernon – a veteran of WWII, her parents Armand and Isola Gauthier and her brother Gerald. She is fondly remembered by her children Pat (Jim Reddy) in Halifax, Jayne (Richard Bissonnette) in Burnaby and Vernon (Lynne Chouinard), Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia; her grandchildren Rory Miller (Susan Crocker), Shane Miller (Ali Byrne), Meghan Miller, Samantha (Stuart Adamson) and Kirby Bissonnette and Hunter Jessup; and her great grandchildren Kate, Bryanna, Jules and Lochlainn. She also is survived by her sisters, Carmelle Lauzon, Helen Dupre, Jeanine Naud, her brother George; sisters-in-law Reine Gauthier, Lily Gauthier, Vivian Abma, Pat Elliot, Vira Jones, Gwen Snook, Mary Jessup and brothers-in law Gary Jessup, Murray Jessup and Les Snook; her godson George Larocque; many nieces, nephews and very close friends Eleanor and Bill Glembus.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Meadows for their care and compassion when Mom was a resident. We will be forever grateful to you for your kindness.
Mom often said that she wanted to be with Dad, therefore at a later date her wish will come true when we take her back to British Columbia one last time. A park bench in the name of our parents will be given to the town of Iroquois Falls in their memory.
If desired, memorial donations in support of brain cancer research would be greatly appreciated at https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/braincancerresearch
Online condolences may be sent to www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
