<div itemprop="description">Watson, Rita Marie - Age 73, of Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 7, 2016 at the VG Hospital in Halifax. She had fought a courageous six year battle with cancer. Born November 3, 1943 in Yarmouth, NS, she was the daughter of John and Victoria (Saulnier) Doucette. Rita graduated from Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School, attended Yarmouth Vocational, married her high school sweetheart, raised their children, and worked part-time in retail for many years. After her retirement, she joined the Ladies Auxiliary at the Lower Sackville Legion where she enjoyed her involvement in social events, spending time with friends, dancing, and playing crib. Most of all, Rita enjoyed time spent with her family each day. She enjoyed road trips to the valley, family dinners, attending her granddaughter’s hockey games, and making the holidays truly memorable. She is survived (and sadly missed) by her daughters, Lori Watson and Tracy Watson (Stuart Melanson); her granddaughter, Karlie Bossé; her mother; her sisters, Gladys Woods and Shirley Gannon (Ernie Alward); her brother Bobby Doucette; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronnie and her father. Rita’s funeral service will take place Monday November 14th at 2 pm at Atlantic Funeral Homes, Lower Sackville; Rev. Bob Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch No. 162 or to Feed Nova Scotia. <br></div>
