Simone Pitzel (Trudeau), 76, of Bedford NS passed away October 21, 2015 at Ivany Place (Northwood Care). Simone, daughter of Juliette and John Trudeau, was born in Ottawa on April 19, 1939. She married Joseph Edward Pitzel May 21, 1960 and his Air Force career moved them from Ottawa to France, Belgium, Cold Lake, Moose Jaw, Greenwood and Bedford. Simone did administrative work for the Government, which allowed her an early retirement where she pursued her many hobbies.
Over the decades, Simone’s hobbies included; collecting antiques and house plants, bread making, crocheting, quilting, swimming, hiking, camping, curling, line-dancing, cross-country skiing, playing bridge, and wine-making. She volunteered for St. Ignatius Church and her seniors’ lawn bowling team won silver in the Nationals. Many activities were done alongside Joe – they led hiking groups with Volksmarch for many years. Simone will be remembered for her refusal to gossip, worry or complain, and her blunt tell-it-like-it-is personality.
She was predeceased in death by her husband Joe in 2014 and her brothers Lionel and Roger. She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Michelle Bezanson (Byron), Colette Robinson (Bill), and Brad Pitzel (Charina); Tor and Dillon Robinson, Cole and Carla Bezanson, Gabriel, Ronan and Sienna Pitzel; and her siblings Diane, Madeleine, Linda and Raymond; and her dear friends Joan and Harry Dunnington. Thanks to Dr. Whynot, nurses and staff from Ivany who cared for Simone. A funeral service for Simone will be held on Wednesday, October 28 at 12 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home Sackville Chapel, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Following the service she will be buried at Oakwood Memorial Gardens alongside Joe, where she faithfully brought flowers until just a few months before her death. In lieu of flowers, Simone made it clear years ago she would prefer everyone to spread love and hug someone. Online condolences at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
