JARDIM, Thomas Anthony
It is with the deepest of regrets that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Born in Georgetown British Guinea, educated at Mount Saint Benedict's in Trinidad. He came to Canada in 1949 and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950. It is in Halifax where he met the love of his life Joan Doyle at the local CYO dance, married in 1955 and 6 beautiful daughters followed over the next 10 years. After the Navy he worked for Trans Canada Airlines, Prudential Insurance, and the last 25 years of his work life with Smith Kline and French traveling the Atlantic Provinces as their representative. He was an avid sportsman playing tennis and cricket well into his sixties. He was the inaugural president of the Nova Scotia Cricket association which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year in no small part due to his efforts. His attributes were many and he will be remembered as a man of great principle and faith, hardworking, and most of all his encompassing devotion to his family.
He was predeceased by his parents Vera (Da Silva), Raymond Jardim, brothers Paul and Michael.
He is survived by his wife of 59 plus years Joan Marie Jardim (Doyle), daughters
Ruth (Robert) Todd, Marie Therese (Arthur) Durant, Patricia Jardim, Colleen (Peter) Dartanna, Carol (Bill) Webber, Joanne (Kevin) Fisk and his sister Barbara Gonsalves. He will be dearly missed by his eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren who will miss his many pearls of wisdom and unsolicited advice.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Hasan and all of the caregivers at Willow Hall, Mount Hope, whose unwavering support has been most appreciated during his long goodbye.
There will be visitation on Thursday May 14th from 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Home 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. The funeral service and reception will take place Friday May 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ignatius Parish, 1288 Bedford Highway, Bedford Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers we would like donations made to Willow Hall c/o Nova Scotia Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
