<div itemprop="description">June 23, 1926- October 18, 2016 <br> <br>Passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, at age 90. <br> <br>June was born in New Hampshire, to Harvey and Mildred Van Buskirk, and grew up in Pugwash, N.S. There, she met the love of her life, Byron. They married in 1946, after his service in WWII, and moved to Spryfield, where June worked as a pharmacy assistant and Byron for the CBC. There, they raised their four children and were active members of the United Church, Marriage Encounter and the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia. <br> <br>After retirement, June and Byron moved to Mount Uniacke, becoming beloved members of the community and St. Paul's United Church. <br> <br>June was a published poet. Her verses capture the simple beauty of nature, family and the world around her. <br> <br>June is survived by Byron, her husband of 70 years, daughter Barb (Paul) Bingham, sons Robbie and Sandy (Roxanne), and by her beloved grandchildren Patrick Oakley and Brenna and Jessica MacMillan, Roseann McNaughton, and great grandchildren Emily and Brendan Raymond, and numerous nieces and nephews. <br> <br>She was predeceased by daughter Heather (Eric) Oakley, her parents, sister Pauline Sarson, brothers James (Brud), Wilfred, and Rod. <br> <br>A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church, Mt. Uniacke, the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice. <br> <br> <br></div>
