Edward William Bowden
June 27, 1932 - September 9, 2011
Of Lower Sackville. It is with grave sadness that we must say "we'll see you later" to our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ed passed away peacefully at home with his dear wife and best friend of 59 years at his side. Ed worked at McCurdy Print and the Halifax Herald for a sum of 50 years as a Newspaper Printer Compositor. Ed was a very active member years ago in the scouting movement. Some of his interests included fishing, woodworking, bingo at St. Mary's and beagling. He was a former Cursillista and a reader at St. Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Church, where we are sure he had a reserved seat every week. Ed suffered a very lengthy illness but we were blessed to have had him survive for almost nine years beating odds most people couldn't. Even the doctors said he was one "Tough Old Bird". Ed came into this world in the arms of a woman who loved him and that's how he went out. Ed was predeceased by his mom, Margaret and dad, Ed Bowden Sr.; sister, Linda Wiseman and son-in-law, Robert Cameron. He is survived by his loving loyal wife of 59 years, Theresa (Shea); children, Peggy Laplante (Michel), Ed Bowden (Michelle Pineiro), Shirley Crooks (Ron), Debbie Jennings (Jamie), Honey Murphy (Darrell Lawrence); grandchildren, Bobby Laplante, Amy Given, Eddie and Joe Bowden, Jennifer, Laura and Christopher Crooks, Amanda and Robbie Cameron, Angela Murphy; great-grandchildren, Michaela, Madison, Dawson, Chloe, Aiden, Lucas, Brody, Sydney, Payton, Mylee and Chase; brothers Jim, Jack, Gerald, Joseph, Danny and Henry; sisters, Shirley, Mary and Joan. The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Chui, Dr. Richard Norman, the doctors and nurses of Dialysis, Dixon Centre for looking after Ed, Access-A-Bus drivers, to Deacon Jim Smith for his many visits, to Terry Kline for keeping in touch every two weeks, to his family at dialysis and to his own family for their love and support. There are so many people to thank, you know who you are. Donations to Dialysis, Dixon Centre would be appreciated. No flowers by request. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Church, reception to follow in church. On- line condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
