WHITEHOUSE, ELAINE HELEN

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, mother in law and Gramma Elaine at the age of 81 in the early hours of November 6, 2016. Born in Kitchener Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Gus Dargel.

Lovingly known to us as 'Sexy Gramma' for her colourful fashion sense, modern thoughts on life and of course, for being the owner of the green machine, a V6 mustang. She was the coolest Gramma dropping the girls off at school in that mustang. She was the matriarch of our family. We are lost without her.

In the 80's, Mom worked as Head Cashier at Capitol Stores on Coburg Road. She loved her job and she did it very well. When she retired, her and Dad were active in the senior community as the 'youngest' seniors, taking part in all that retired life offered. They were known as the couple who were joined at the hip. In her late 60's after Dad passed away, she returned to work as a cashier at Sobeys, where she enjoyed serving and socializing with customers. She made the best homemade meatballs and spaghetti ever and she kicked butt playing Super Nintendo well into her 70's. Mom was the gardener in the family. She created beautiful gardens, including a memorial garden in memory of our Dayna.

Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Cathy Isenor and son in law Lonnie Isenor, and granddaughter Ashley Ward and Ashley's boyfriend Matthew. She was predeceased by the love of her life in 1997, Bernie (Dick) and her granddaughter Dayna in 2007. She was also predeceased by her mother and father, and her brother Ken.

We would like to thank the medical staff on 8.2 of the Halifax Infirmary for their care and kindness to Mom and to us. A special thank you to Dr. Tennenkore for your care and concern. A very special thank you to all the nurses who cared for Mom, especially Courtney and Jeff. You made Mom's last days and hours the most comfortable that they could be and we will be forever grateful.

Mom requested that no visitation be held. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at 2pm at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, 1078 Old Sackville Rd. Lr. Sackville. If you wish, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Mom was the strongest person we knew. She has been through so much, in particular the last 3 years. It is her time to be at rest. It gives us comfort to know she has been reunited with Dad and Dayna. Until we see you again, we will miss you endlessly. LUVLUVLUV.
